The Gianni Gallucci FATTO A MANO Norwegian-welted shoe is a one-of-a-kind limited edition featuring tassels and hand-dyed leather. Along with our Goodyear welt styles, we now offer Italian-made Norwegian-welted shoes. The Norwegian welt, also known as a "storm welt" or "water proof welt," effectively prevents water from entering the shoe through the seam between the upper and welt. In contrast to traditional welts that curve beneath the upper leather, the Norwegian welt is visible on the exterior of the shoe. This unique design element is created by visible stitching that connects the welt to the insole. While the shoe's interior construction shares similarities with Goodyear-welt construction, such as a channeled vegetable-tanned leather insole and steel shank, it also ensures comfort through the use of natural materials such as vegetable-tanned leather and cork for filling that mold to the heat of your foot
